Birthday invitation wording: samples for every kind of party
A birthday invitation only has to do a few things well: say whose birthday it is, give the date, time, and place, and tell guests how to reply. Below are samples for a first birthday, a kids' party, a milestone, and a surprise, in English, Taglish, and Tagalog. Pick one, replace the [brackets], and make it yours.
What to put on a birthday invitation
- Who is celebrating, and the age if it is a milestone or a first birthday.
- The date and the start time, and when the party ends if guests have a long way to go.
- The venue and its city, or your home address if it is at home.
- A theme or dress request, like a color, a costume, or a character.
- Whether guests may bring their children or a companion.
- A reply date, so you can tell the caterer how many are coming.
- A line about gifts, if you have a preference.

A line about gifts
If you would rather not receive gifts, or you would like something specific, say so kindly and early. A short line at the end of the invitation is enough.
Your presence is the best gift. If you would like to give something, [a book for the child / a donation to (charity)] would mean a lot.
Ang pagdalo mo na ang pinakamagandang regalo. Kung gusto mo pa ring magbigay, malaking tulong ang [libro para sa bata / donasyon sa (charity)].
Tips before you send it
- For a kids' party, write the start and end time. Parents plan around both.
- Say whether siblings and parents are welcome. It changes your headcount a lot.
- Send it two to four weeks before, and a little earlier if the date is near a long weekend or a holiday.
- Set the reply date about a week before the party, so you can give the caterer or the venue a final number.
- For a surprise, ask guests to arrive early and to keep it quiet, and send the link to each guest privately so the celebrant does not see it.
Make it in Paanyaya
Press Use on my card on a sample above to pick a design and start your card with these words, with your date, time, and place filled in. Replace the [brackets] with your own words, then add your guest list. Each guest gets a private link that opens an envelope with their own name on it, and they reply Yes or No on the page. For a kids' party you can allow each guest to bring family, from none to ten, so the number you see counts people, not only names. You see every reply on your event page.

Questions
How early should I send a birthday invitation?
Two to four weeks before is enough for most parties. Send it earlier for a big celebration, or when the date is close to a holiday, when guests plan ahead.
Should I say “no gifts” on the invitation?
You can. A kind, short line works best, for example “Your presence is the best gift.” If you would like something specific, say that too, so guests are not guessing.
How do I count children and parents for a kids' party?
Ask each family to reply with how many are coming. In Paanyaya you choose how many people each guest may bring, and the guest says how many of them are coming, so the total is people, not invitations.
How many guests can I invite?
Up to 2,000 guests on one event, and you can paste a list from Excel or Google Sheets instead of typing them one by one.
Is Paanyaya free?
Yes. Designing the card, sending links to every guest, replies, and check-in at the door are all free, with no ads on your guests' invitations and no watermark on the card.
