Graduation invitation wording: samples for the party and the ceremony

A graduation is a family achievement, and the invitation can be a thank-you to everyone who helped. Below are samples for a graduation party, a kinder or grade school moving-up, and a formal Tagalog version. Pick one, replace the [brackets], and make it yours.

What to put on a graduation invitation

  • The graduate's full name, the degree or level, and the school.
  • The year or batch, for example Class of 2027.
  • The date, time, and place of the party. If you are also inviting people to the ceremony, give its details separately.
  • Whether the ceremony has limited seats, so guests know whether they are invited to it.
  • A reply date and how to reply.
  • A line of thanks to parents, teachers, and sponsors, if you like.

When seats at the ceremony are limited

Many schools give each graduate only a few tickets for the ceremony. If that is your case, invite the few who can come to the ceremony, and everyone else to the party afterwards.

In English

Seats at the graduation ceremony are limited, and we are happy to invite [names or family] to join us there.

Everyone is invited to the celebration afterwards at [place] on [date] at [time].

In Taglish

Limitado po ang upuan sa graduation ceremony, kaya [mga pangalan o pamilya] lang po ang maisasama namin doon.

Pero lahat po ay imbitado sa salu-salo pagkatapos sa [lugar], sa [petsa], [oras].

Tips before you send it

  • Confirm the ceremony date with the school first. Dates can change, and a party planned for the wrong weekend is hard to move.
  • Say clearly which event each guest is invited to, the ceremony, the party, or both.
  • Send it three to four weeks before. Graduation weekends are busy, and guests may also be invited elsewhere.
  • Put a short thank-you to the people who helped. It makes guests feel part of the achievement.
  • After the party, send a thank-you and a link to the photos. In Paanyaya you can add both to the event, and guests see them on their own invitation.

Make it in Paanyaya

Press Use on my card on a sample above to pick a design and start your card with these words, with your date, time, and place filled in. Replace the [brackets] with your own words, then add your guest list. You can put guests in groups, like “Family” and “Classmates”, and show part of the program only to some groups. Each guest gets a private link that opens an envelope with their name on it, and they reply Yes or No on the page.

Questions

Should the invitation come from the graduate or the parents?

Either works. A college graduate often writes it in their own words, while parents often host for a kinder or grade school moving-up. The samples above cover both.

Should I invite people to the ceremony and the party separately?

If seats at the ceremony are limited, yes. Say who is invited to which, so nobody turns up at the wrong place. Paanyaya lets you add a program with different parts, each for everyone or only for some groups.

How early should I send it?

Three to four weeks before the party. Earlier is fine once the school has confirmed the ceremony date.

Is Paanyaya free?

Yes. Designing the card, sending links to every guest, replies, and check-in at the door are all free, with no ads on your guests' invitations and no watermark on the card.
