Filipino wedding invitation wording: samples you can copy

A wedding invitation carries more than a date: both families, often the principal sponsors, the church and the reception, a dress code, and sometimes a gentle word about gifts. Here are samples in English, Taglish, and Tagalog. Replace the [brackets] and keep the parts you need.

What to put on a wedding invitation

  • Both names of the couple, and both sets of parents if you are naming them.
  • The date, and the time of the ceremony.
  • The church or venue with its city, and the reception place and time if it's different.
  • Your principal sponsors, if you want them listed.
  • The dress code or color motif.
  • A reply date and how to reply.

Principal sponsors

Filipino weddings often name the principal sponsors, the ninongs and ninangs. If you list them, give them their own section below the main details, one name or couple per line, and ask them before you print their names.

A gentle word about gifts

Many couples say something short about gifts, and cash gifts are a common choice. Keep it kind and brief.

In English

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift.

If you wish to give something more, a contribution toward our new home would be deeply appreciated.

In Taglish

Ang presensya ninyo ang pinakamahalagang regalo.

Kung nais ninyong magbigay pa, malaking tulong po ang anumang halaga para sa aming bagong tahanan.

Adults only

Tips before you send it

  • Put the ceremony time first. If the reception is somewhere else, give its place and time on its own line.
  • Say the dress code in plain words, with the color motif, if any, so guests can plan early.
  • Ask for replies about a month before for a large wedding, so you can give the caterer a firm number.
  • Check every name and spelling twice, especially the sponsors.

Make it in Paanyaya

Pick a wedding design, then open Wording samples in the card editor to fill your card with one of these wordings, with your date, time, and place already in. Replace the [brackets] with your own words, and add your guest list, with groups like “Bride's family” and “Groom's family”. Each guest opens their own invitation with their name on it and replies on the page. You can set how many people each guest may bring, so the count you see is people, not only names. If the ceremony and the reception are in different places, each part of your program can have its own place.

Questions

Do I have to list both sets of parents?

No. Many couples do, as a way to honor both families, and others host the wedding themselves and leave the parents off. Choose what fits your families.

How early should I send wedding invitations?

Many couples send them one to two months before, and earlier for guests who must travel. Give a reply date that leaves you time to finalize numbers.

Can I limit how many people each guest brings?

Yes. In Paanyaya you set how many people each guest may bring, from none to ten, and guests choose how many are coming within that number.

Is Paanyaya free?

Yes. Designing the card, sending links to every guest, replies, and check-in at the door are all free, with no ads on your guests' invitations and no watermark on the card.
