Christmas party invitation wording: samples for family and office

Christmas in the Philippines starts early, and so does the schedule. A clear invitation helps everyone pick the date before it fills up. Below are samples for a family gathering, an office party, and a barkada party, in English, Taglish, and Tagalog, with lines for the gift exchange. Pick one, replace the [brackets], and make it yours.

What to put on a Christmas party invitation

  • Whose party it is: your family, your team, or your group of friends.
  • The date, the start time, and roughly when it ends.
  • The venue and its city, or your home address.
  • The gift exchange: monito monita, Kris Kringle, or a gift for every child, and the budget.
  • Food: whether it is Noche Buena, a potluck, or catered, and what to bring if it is a potluck.
  • A dress theme, if any, like red and green or Filipiniana.
  • A reply date and how many people each guest may bring.

Gift exchange rules

The rules of a gift exchange are easier to follow when they are written down once, with the invitation. Here is a short version to add to your invitation or to the message you send with it.

In English

Gift exchange: please bring one wrapped gift worth [amount], suitable for [anyone / a man or a woman].

Name draw on [date]. Please keep your monito or monita a secret!

In Taglish

Exchange gift: magdala po ng isang balot na regalo na nagkakahalaga ng [halaga], na babagay sa [kahit sino / lalaki o babae].

Bunutan sa [petsa]. Sikreto lang po kung sino ang monito o monita ninyo!

Tips before you send it

  • December fills up fast. Send the invitation four to six weeks before, so guests can choose your date before others do.
  • State the gift budget and the rules in the same message, so nobody has to ask.
  • For a potluck, ask guests to say what they will bring in their reply, so you do not end up with five desserts and no rice.
  • For an office party, check the time with people who work shifts or travel home for the holidays.
  • Ask about food allergies or restrictions in your reply message, for example “Please tell us about any allergies.”

Make it in Paanyaya

Press Use on my card on a sample above to pick a design and start your card with these words, with your date, time, and place filled in. Replace the [brackets] with your own words, then add your guest list. Group your guests, for example “Family”, “Office”, and “Friends”, and allow each guest to bring family if you want to. Each guest gets a private link that opens an envelope with their name on it, and they reply Yes or No on the page. If you do not know every guest, you can use one public link that anyone can join, with a limit.

Questions

When should I send a Christmas party invitation?

Four to six weeks before, which usually means early November for a December party. Everyone's calendar fills up fast in December.

How do I run the gift exchange?

Decide the budget and the rules first, and put them in the invitation. Draw names a few days before, so everyone has time to shop. The sample above has a line you can copy into your message.

Can I invite guests I do not have a number for?

Yes. For an open gathering, Paanyaya can give you one public link with a limit on how many can join, and you can approve each sign-up first. Each person who joins gets their own invitation.

Is Paanyaya free?

Yes. Designing the card, sending links to every guest, replies, and check-in at the door are all free, with no ads on your guests' invitations and no watermark on the card.
