Memorial invitation wording: samples for a padasal, a Mass, or a death anniversary
Writing an invitation in a time of loss is hard. A short, plain message is enough: who is being remembered, when and where, and who the family is. Below are samples for a prayer service, a Mass, a death anniversary, and a celebration of life, in English, Taglish, and Tagalog. Pick one, replace the [brackets], and adjust the tone to your family.
What to put on a memorial invitation
- The name of the person being remembered, and the dates of birth and passing if you wish.
- What it is: a padasal, a Mass, the 40th day, a death anniversary, or a celebration of life.
- The date and time, and the place with its city. For a series of prayers, the first and last day and the time each evening.
- The family's name, written the way you want it.
- What happens afterwards, like a simple meal.
- A reply date only if you need a count for the food.

A series of nightly prayers
Many families hold prayers on several evenings, for example the nine days after the burial. You can send one message with the whole schedule.

Place: [address]. A light meal will be served after each prayer.
With thanks for your prayers and presence, [Family's name].

In place of flowers
If the family prefers an offering or a donation instead of flowers, a gentle line can say so.
In place of flowers, the family kindly asks for [a Mass offering / a donation to (name of cause)]. Thank you for your kindness.
Sa halip na bulaklak, kinikilala po ng pamilya ang [alay para sa misa / donasyon sa (pangalan)]. Maraming salamat po sa inyong kabutihan.
Tips for sending it
- Keep it short. A name, a date, a place, and the family are enough.
- Send it to each person privately instead of posting it publicly, since it can include a home address.
- If some relatives live abroad or cannot travel, you can add an online link, such as a Facebook Live or Zoom link, so they can join the prayer from where they are.
- You do not need a reply date unless you are serving a meal and need a count.
- After the service, a short thank-you message to those who came is kind and welcome.
Make it in Paanyaya
Press Use on my card on a sample above to pick a quiet design and start your card with these words, with your date, time, and place filled in. Replace the [brackets] with your own words, then add the people you want to invite. Each person gets a private link with their name on it, so nothing is posted publicly. You can add an online meeting link for relatives abroad, and only the people you invited see it on their own invitation.

Questions
What should a memorial invitation say?
Who is being remembered, what the gathering is, the date, time, and place, and the family's name. A gentle line about prayers or a meal afterwards is common. You do not need more.
Is it all right to send a memorial invitation by link?
Yes. Many families share the details by message, and a private link keeps the address with the people who need it. Each guest gets their own link instead of a public post.
Can relatives abroad join online?
Yes. You can add an online meeting link to the event, such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Facebook Live. Guests who were invited see it on their own invitation, and it is not shown on a public page.
Is Paanyaya free?
Yes. Designing the card, sending links to every guest, replies, and check-in at the door are all free, with no ads on your guests' invitations and no watermark on the card.
